My name is LG and I'm a sugar addict!
O.k....I am addicted to sugar. I really am. It all started back AFTER I had my second child. I couldn't eat sweet during that pregnancy because it made me very ill. But after I delivered I craved sweets like there was no tomorrow! I would HAVE to eat chocolate every day!! Some days too much. So, when I got pregnant again, I thought I would not be able to eat sweets again, but this pregnancy was different. I could eat sweets....and I still do 5 months after delivering. First it was chocolate every day. Then I did good and would have fig nuetons or something in it's place. Then Easter came and wouldn't you know it, right back on the chocolate wagon again. Now, I have no chocolate in my house (That I like....yes I'm a chocolate connesuer of sorts)...but I have licorice I bought thinking (o.k. it's lowfat and I can just eat a little when I want some sugar - NOT....I'm eating it when I'm relaxing or bored or whatever.)
I need some advice on how to (painlessly) lower my sugar intake. How to wean myself off of daily sweets. There was a time I was disciplined and would only have a treat or two on the weekends. Now it's every day!!!
Does anyone have any advice? Is there a way to wean....or does it have to be cold turkey??

hmmm...
Nope. I can't think of anything to tell you. Sorry.
I think you can get this under control easily LG. You are a VERY healthy eater. You and your family eat waaaay better (healthier) stuff than you ever did when you were living with ME --- the QUEEN of sugar addicts. I think you guys eat healthy stuff and have balanced diets. If you eat more sugar than you think is good for you, try substituting more of the healthy SWEET stuff that you already eat --- or stuff that you like. Like fruits (maybe with dips?) (veggies with yummy dips?) and fruit smoothies --- stuff like that. Now that it's warmer, that kind of stuff will be more readily available, right? Get plenty of it and snack on that when you're hungry. And are you drinking as much water as you used to?
You're definately NOT overweight. ( at allllll ) I think you can cut back if you make up your mind to. (Plus, now that it's warmer, you and the kids won't be housebound any longer --- you'll be more active and will probably start eating lighter & healthier just because you'll be more active, right?)
You can do it. I know you can.
And don't buy anymore to bring into the house. I like your mom's idea of replacing it with the good stuff. :)
